Karen Elizabeth Urlie, soprano,
is seen frequently on opera, concert and recital stages across the Pacific Northwest. She has been a featured soloist with Baroque Northwest,
Skagit Symphony, Northwest Sinfonietta, Bellevue Chamber Chorus, Sacred Music Chorale, Kitsap Opera, Livermore Valley Opera,
Rainier Lyric Opera, Bellevue Opera, Hans Wolf's Community Productions, and the Seattle Opera Guild Previews, and has been a member of
the Seattle Opera Chorus for more than 10 years. Recently, she has been part of the Gallery Concerts here in Seattle, and worked with Adam
Guettel, Tony Award winning composer, on a recording of his original work for the production of Uncle Vanya at the Intiman Theater.
Karen was a winner of the 2001 Seattle Ladies Musical Club Awards/Tour Competition, a finalist in the 2003 Sun Valley Opera Vocal Competition, and the 2006 N.A.T.S. Western Washington District Vocal Competition. An avid recitalist, Karen draws upon a repertoire that ranges from Purcell and Mozart to Wolf and Strauss, Rodrigo and Barber.
