David Wilson Bio

David Wilson has performed extensively with period instrument ensembles in the United States and Europe, including the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the Portland Baroque Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, and as concertmaster with Jubilate! (San Francisco), Musica Angelica (Los Angeles), the Dayton Bach Society, and Ensemble Musical Offering (Milwaukee). His chamber music activities have included performances with the Southwest Baroque Players (Cape Girardeau), Magnificat (San Francisco), Music's Re-creation (Oakland), and, of course,B.O.M.B., and he is a founding member of Florilegia, and Wisconsin Baroque. He is the author of Georg Muffat On Performance Practice, published by Indiana University Press. He received the DM degree in Early Music from Indiana University and holds degrees in violin from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., as well as a brown belt in Shaolin-Do Kung Fu. Dr. Wilson currently lives in the San Francisco area, where in his spare time he is researching legends of the Darmkrieger, a fierce band of violinist mercenaries which reputedly flourished in seventeenth-century Europe.
