Ingrid Crozman started her musical
studies in Ontario, obtaining conservatory degrees
in both flute and piano by the time she finished
high school. Ingrid continued her flute studies at
the University of Western Ontario in London,
Ontario, receiving a Bachelors of Music Degree
in performance. While in London, Ingrid taught at
the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music and played
with Orchestra London.
After completing her degree, Ingrid studied in England with Peter Lloyd where she successfully completed the Licentiate Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music. She also taught flute for the Inner London Educational Authority and worked at the Barbican Centre for the Arts. Upon returning to Canada, Ingrid settled in Calgary, Alberta. She obtained her Masters of Music in Performance at the University of Calgary, after which she was hired as a sessional flute instructor, a postition she held for almost twenty years. Some of her other duties at the University included directing the University Flute Choir, running a masterclass series and developing a community music program, which is now a successful part of the Music Department. Ingrid has performed in masterclasses with many well-known flute players including Geoffrey Gilbert, Samuel Barron, Carol Wincenc, Robert Aitken and Amy Rice Blumenthal (flute choir). She also studied at the Banff Centre in Alberta, the Liszt Academy Summer Orchestral Training Program in Hungary and the International Summer School in Ramsgate, England. While in Calgary, Ingrid was co-principal flute of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. She performed with many other groups, such as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Opera, the National Ballet, Alberta Ballet, the Calgary Bach Society, and the Banff Festival Orchestra. She was active as a chamber musician in such ensembles as Landsend Chamber ensemble, specialising in contemporary music, Bellissima, a trio for flute, violin and cello and various Baroque ensembles. Ingrid became interested in Baroque flute after attending masterclasses with Stephen Preston. She then pursued further studies in Seattle, Washington with Kim Pineda and now teaches at his annual Baroque Flute Boot Camp. Recently, Ingrid returned to London, Ontario where she is starting a new flute studio, coaches the wind section of the London Youth Orchestra and works with the Forest City Talent Education program. |
